About Camp Kátur
Camp Kátur is the concept and vision of owner Kerry who wanted to bring a varied Glamping experience to Yorkshire.
A hippie at heart with a love of the great outdoors, passion for travel, VW camper vans, enjoyment of festivals and a general want to try everything in life kinda Girl, the urge for the Glamping lifestyle took charge.
Camp Kátur has been a dream ambition for many years after travelling the length and breadths of the UK as an Expert Trainer for a large international brand and a background in Marketing I knew I would never be settled working for someone else and was always eager to sail my own ship! At the age of 10 years old I told my Family I will have my own business one day, not just any old business but something I would be passionate about and in 2013 that day came.
Kerry’s most prized possession (after her Westie Pooch Teddy!) is her 1978 Bay window VW Camper Van who goes by the name 'Surfer Sid', purchased as real rust bucket but after 18 months of hard graft thanks to good old Pops and Wavey (tuther half!) he was truly reformed.
Wondering where the name came from?
Katur means 'Happy' in Icelandic, with good connections in Iceland and my tuther half often hearing the phrase a name was born. 'Discover Your Outdoor Happiness at Camp Katur' after-all the Icelandic are very outdoorsy people!
We strive where possible to make Camp Kátur as Eco friendly as possible and minimize our footprint on the surrounding countryside.
We are always keen to hear people’s ideas and feedback that will help to further enhance the Glamping experience we offer to our guests.
