FAQ's - Camp Kátur

FAQ’s

How far is the parking away from the accommodation?

We have parking within each Glamping area, limited to 1 car per accommodation, additional cars can park at the main car park. For the safety of all of our guests, cars are not allowed to drive within any of the glamping areas. We do provide wheel barrows to help you get your cases from the glamping car park, to your hideaway!

Is there a shop on-site?

At reception, we sell some essentials such as bags of ice, ice cream, marshmallows and chilled wine. But for a more substantial shop, Bedale is 5miles away.

Do you have any Wi-Fi internet access?

We’re the perfect place for you to disconnect from the everyday and there is no Wi-Fi access in any of our hideaways. We do have public Wi-Fi in the Hebridean and Courtyard in case you do need internet access whilst staying with us.

Will my accommodation have electricity?

Whilst booking your accommodation, please check on the website whether electricity is provided. Some of our accommodations have no electricity, meaning you will not be able to charge your phone, or have lights as the sun goes down. This is perfect for having an ‘Off-Grid’ experience and really enjoying the natural surroundings.

All ‘Electricity Free’ accommodations have tealights, but we recommend bringing a head torch, torch or battery-powered lanterns. It’s a wonderful chance to see how bright the stars are at night without light pollution.

Stays on Chestnut Hill and Hill Farm have access to power within the accommodation.

What happens with recycling on-site?

Our waste goes to AWRP in North Yorkshire, a short distance from our location. They use the waste to produce electricity, which powers 40,000 homes.

What is your policy on noise?

We always ask that our guests respect fellow guests and keep noise to a level whereby you are not causing a nuisance to others. After 10pm we operate a low noise policy.

Are dogs allowed?

Absolutely! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs per booking and we ask that you keep your dog/s on a lead at all times. Please also pick up any mess. We do ask that you let us know that you’re bringing your pooch, there’s an additional charge of £30 p/dog which can be added to your booking online. The only hideaway that doesn’t allow dogs is in Lyra, sorry.

Do you have a communal campfire?

Each accommodation has its own fire pit, but if you’re staying on the Meadow there is a communal fire pit which you’re welcome to use.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Our glamping check-in days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Check-in is after 3 pm and we ask that you check out before 10 am, with a minimum of two-night stays.

Where are the nearest shops?

Bedale is 6 miles away and Ripon is 7 miles away – with plenty of shops and amenities. We do sell some essentials on site too.

Do we need to bring bedding and towels?

Bedding, robes & towels are included when staying in our two Chestnut Hill Geodomes and Lyra, Bellatrix and Cosmo. Bedding only is provided on all Hill Farm Geodomes and in Chestnut Lodge but not Towels. If you’re Glamping on The Meadow, you may wish to bring your own bedding and towels as they are not included, or you can hire from us for an additional £15pp for bedding and £8pp for towels.

Will we have our own cooking facilities?

All of our accommodations have a BBQ, for cooking outside and all have the use of the two communal kitchens on the Estate. The communal kitchens have all you’ll need to cook simple meals, including crockery, cutlery and pans. Some of our accommodations have their own kitchen or kitchenette, which are fully equipped.

Do you allow group bookings?

We do indeed. Unfortunately, we can’t host ‘Hen’ or ‘Stag’ parties because our guests come to Camp Kátur to relax and enjoy the peace.

What can you do onsite?

As a 300-acre Estate, we have so much for you to do on-site. Whether you’d like to spend your days in the Swing Park, Outdoor Gym, Woodland Play Kingdom with wooden castle, roaming the woods, or perhaps book a Bushcraft Experience with us or visit the animals in our small holding. Visit CAMP KÁTUR EXPLORE to find out more.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Bookings cannot be amended, moved or cancelled within 28 days of arrival and no refunds will be given. There will be no refunds given for early departure for any reason whatsoever.

We reserve the right to cancel bookings for reasons deemed necessary by the management. In this instance, Vouchers may be issued to guests whose stay may be changed at the last moment to be redeemed at a later date. These vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.

Refunds, amendments and changes may be subject to a 10% administration charge (minimum £20.00) which covers the relisting of accommodation with 3rd party sites, marketing costs and assorted administration surrounding the processing of transactions.

We cannot give refunds or move bookings because of poor weather. We are not liable for refunds or expenses you incur in the event we are prevented from fulfilling your Booking as a result of circumstances beyond our control. Including (but not be limited to) war, terrorism, riots or civil unrest, industrial action, flooding, natural disasters, epidemics, health risks or such similar events (“Force Majeure”). We recommend that you have adequate holiday insurance in place to cover this.

HOW DO YOUR HOT TUBS WORK?

Our Wood-fired hot tubs work by lighting a fire inside the firebox attached to your hot tub and keeping it stoked and lit, stirring the water whilst it heats. Depending on the ambient temperature of the water and the air, this process can take a couple of hours but each tub has a thermometer so that you can get it to a relaxing 40* heat. Remember to keep your lid on the top when not in use as this should keep it warm for a couple of days but there are extra logs in our store if you need further heat for your water.

WHAT ABOUT LOST PROPERTY?

These things happen! Our cleaning team will collect all lost property and hand it to the management for safekeeping. If you would like to collect an item you left please just let us know when you might be passing. If you want us to post items back to you this will incur a standard charge of £25 which will cover postage, staff time and the mileage of getting the item to the nearest post office for delivery.
