Our home
Camp Kátur is based on the 300-acre ‘Camp Hill Estate’ and the family home of the Ropner family. Robert and Jo Ropner are passionate about preserving their perfect part of North Yorkshire and being responsible custodians of the Estate, but equally passionate about sharing their home with guests and enjoying all that the North Yorkshire Dales has to offer.

Bright eyed and bushy tailed
With so much to do on the Estate, you’ll never have to leave. From bird watching in the meadows, to time spent roaming the 270-acre woodland, to trailing the paths and finding the hidden corners, there’s so much to explore. You’ll see trails marked around the Estate, but feel free to roam and wander, we just ask that you’re sympathetic to the animals in their natural habitat. We’re also proud holders of ‘Dark Sky Status’ – we have little light pollution on site and are positioned between two ‘Dark Sky Reserves’. On a clear night, the sky above us is just beautiful and to be enjoyed around a fire pit, with a glass of Red perhaps!
Adventures in Nature
We have various activities to do on the Estate, such as our Woodland Kingdom, Swing Park, Football Pitch or spend time gather branches to build the perfect den. We also have a small holding with sheep, chickens and the occasional pigs! Lots of our guests enjoy walking to our ‘Plane Crash’ or having a champagne picnic on one of the meadows – there’s so much to do and the Camp Kátur team will be happy to help you plan your stay. A perfect break for families & big kids, with so much safe space to play and little or no traffic.
Active Breaks
Camp Kátur is the perfect chance for an active break, why not bring your bikes and explore the Yorkshire Dales, work out in our Outdoor Gym with timed circuits, run our 5km trail or just count your steps as you roam.
Bushcraft Experiences
We’re proud to offer Bushcraft Experiences by our team of Rangers, all experts with both an extensive knowledge of the area, but also of the wildlife and fauna on the Estate. We host classes and workshops every Saturday from March to October, including: Den Building, Wild Cookery, Tool Making Workshops and Fire Building sessions. When making your reservation with us you can simply add an unforgettable Bushcraft Experience to your booking.
PLACES TO VISIT
Whilst there’s plenty to do right here on the Estate, you may want to take advantage of our unique location, stretch your wings and head a little further afield. Take a look at our handy guide of places to visit, activities to enjoy and local eateries to explore during your stay.
